May 1: Managua

Reception at the airport and transfer to the Hilton Princess Hotel in Managua. Accommodation in a standard room with breakfast included.

May 2: City Tour Managua – Matagalpa

The Nicaraguan Revolution had worldwide repercussions due to its fight against the Somoza dictatorship in 1979. The visit begins at Loma Tiscaba, where the Presidential House was, now converted into a museum. Then we will continue to the Plaza de la Revolución, where the Managua Cathedral and the National Palace are located. We will walk along Rubén Darío Boulevard, visit the picturesque Puerto Salvador Allende and other places of interest.

In the afternoon, departure to Matagalpa. Matagalpa is located in the highlands of the central valley, at an average elevation of 680 meters above sea level. The average temperature is 24 degrees Celsius. Its economy is based on agriculture, especially on the planting of basic grains and vegetables. Coffee is an important item that drives the local economy, along with various businesses. It is known as the “pearl of the north” for its natural characteristics and as the “capital of production.”

May 3: Matagalpa – León

In the morning, we will take the “From seed to cup of coffee” tour. You will learn about the coffee process, its history, location of plantations, climate, topography, sustainable use of byproducts and social programs, among other things. You will visit nurseries, coffee plantations, an organic laboratory and learn about organic farming and composting methods. The tour will include harvesting and measuring the coffee, as well as visiting the mill (factory) where the coffee is processed. You’ll finish with a cup of coffee at the museum, where the guide will answer any remaining questions.

In the afternoon, travel to León passing through numerous colorful towns and cities, full of nature and local life, until you reach the former capital of the country: León, where we will spend the night at Hotel La Perla.


May 4: Long live León, damn it!

In the morning we will visit the most important attractions of the city, including its Cathedral guarded by impetuous lions, the Museum of the renowned poet Rubén Darío, the Ortiz-Gurdián Foundation Museum full of paintings and artistic representations, and the Museum of Legends and Traditions, with images of the country’s customs. In the afternoon, visit the famous distillery of the emblematic Flor de Caña rum.

Optionally, if we want to take an adventure tour, we recommend climbing the Cerro Negro volcano and sliding down the slopes of the volcano. Accommodation at the La Perla Hotel, standard room with breakfast included.


May 5: León – Granada

In the morning we will make the trip to the colonial sister city of Granada. Free afternoon to have the first contact with the city.

May 6: Granada – City Tour – Granada

We are picked up at the hotel to take a walking tour of the main museums and cathedrals of the city, such as La Casa de los Tres Mundos and the Antiguo Convento San Francisco, currently converted into the city museum, which exhibits a very important collection of pre-Hispanic statues. We will also explore the historic center of the city and we will have the opportunity to visit the tower of the La Merced church, built in 1524, from where we will have a panoramic view of the city. A tour by steering wheel will give us a different vision of the city. In the afternoon we will take a tour of Lake Cocibolca to visit the islets, where the guide will explain the geological history of these formations and the use they are currently being given.

In the afternoon we will go to see the volcanic activity of the Masaya Volcano.

Accommodation at Hotel Patio del Malinche or similar, standard room in Granada, with breakfast included.

May 7: Laguna de Apoyo – Masaya Market

After breakfast, we will head to the city of Masaya towards the Masaya Handicraft Market, famous for the wide variety of leather products, hammocks and paintings painted by famous Nicaraguan artists. In the area, we will also visit the Catarina viewpoint from where we will enjoy an impressive view of the Apoyo Lagoon, the city of Granada and the Mombacho volcano. All these activities are very close to Granada.

In the afternoon, we head to the coastal city of San Juan del Sur.

May 8: San Juan del Sur

San Juan del Sur is a town in the Pacific with tourist infrastructure to enjoy the beaches in the area. You can go up to the Cristo de la Misericordia viewpoint and it is highly recommended to go fishing with a local fisherman, where you can even find lobsters.

May 9: San Juan del Sur – International Airport

Transfer at the appropriate time to the International Airport.
